In the near future, Santa's autonomous sleigh will be connected to other vehicles, roadside infrastructure, and the Internet. Already tody, cars have been hacked and remotely controlled by attackers. As this could ruin Christmas, the SecVI project is working on a robust, secure and updatable communication architecture for future vehicles. One important technology in this architecture is Software-Defined Networking (SDN). With SDN the forwarding devices can be programmed by a centralised controller that implements flow-based forwarding rules. Protective rules can add much value to the resilience, security, and adaptivity of the automotive environment. By combining SDN with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) standards, this technology can be enabled for the real-time environment of a car.
